WELCOME TO ADVANCED ROBOTICS
ew u
Welcome to my Weebly website for my 2nd year of robotics. I am now in the advanced class for Mr.Croke's robotics class.
our first project is a chassis for a scooter. yes, a scooter. we have had an upgrade in materials that we can work with from last time, we can use aluminum along with the older legos. these will make for some very creative projects in the future.
UPDATE #1---I have joined the robotics competition team, me along with the team will be creating a robot that can handle a set task by the officials. We as a team have learned many new things that we've probably not been exposed to before like the new phones and the apps that we had to get and learn about. These applications allow us to control our robot through the game pad that was sent to us by the officials along with everything we need to make a robot to the best of our abilities. we also had to plan out our robot ahead of time to work out any problems we may have with the design.
Over all, myself, I learned how to design strategically and how to cooperate better with my group. And how to do many more things that I probably wouldn't have learned had I not joined this team.
10/5/15---update---- Today we worked on our first prototype's frame some more, its really coming along pretty nicely. we had some trouble however building the platform for the electronics in the opening of the triangular frame, but eventually after a class we figured it out and we are building onto it to our teams liking.
We just finished the platform for our electronics with the help of the technology guy on our team, we also used other available parts that we found that we were allowed to use a little more effectively like 3 more plates that are about 3 inches x 5 or 6 inches for the walls. The technology is being put in today.
10/7/15---update---- We successfully attached the motors to our frame it can move in circles because we setup the phones and game-pads
10/8/15---update--- We changed the programming so that the robot can move in a straight line, trying to figure out how to set a platform for the phone.
10/13/15---update--- Today we are gonna try to get the program to make it move the way we want it working. We can make the robot move in a straight line right now but we cant maneuver it like we want to yet, so we will be working all class to get it working.
10/26/15---update--- today we are trying to figure out how to launch the balls. we created a plow to push the balls around. we built a course to better control it by learning the controls better.
10/28/15---update--- we are creating the flag for our robot as its required for the competition.
11/5/15---update--- we built a claw for our robot so that we can put the debris in the launcher, it has 2 servo motors on it and the second arm works in 360 degrees of rotation. our catapult can launch debris about 4 or 5 feet, the place where we have our debris fit in is bent alittle to make the debris fit better.
11/9/15---update--- we are gonna attempt to get another set of sensors for the bot, we also found a ramp that our teacher is gonna make for us out of wood so we can practice climbing and so that we can model the arena. someone stole our sensors sadly and we need those for the autonomous period of 30 seconds in the beginning of the match.
11/12/15---update---I finished the drawing of our robot on a piece of graph paper. i drew it blueprint style as best as i could and it is out first prototype of our robot (minus the sensors). we are kinda on hold for a little bit though because of the sensors being missing (probably stolen) but we plan on creating our claw for the crane so we can grab the debris from the ground.
12/7/15---update--- we now have one of the servo motors working due to our amazing programmer and our electric circuit expert. they really do alot for the team. we have one of the servos not working yet though, so we have to get those working for us but its going good.
UPDATE--- we got the last servo working now, we are all good!
1/14/16--- UPDATE---programming needs time to work, design changed to make it more compact, and more light.
2/1/16---update---we got seventh in the championship- knocked out forever
Term 3---new challenge for class- make the EV3 light sensor work with a program.
we attempt to use loops and case structures for success.
The sensor will sense the black color and the robot will coast past the lines on the floor but the EV3 will not work for us, so we feel obliged to make it work.
---update---so far there has been mild success but we haven't fully figured the program out, this could take some time.
---update---we have the program working, we need wires and stuff so we can upload it and check if it actually works.
---still doesn't work, the sound does nothing and the sensor doesn't find the lines
---update---it works, we got the program to work
---NEW CHALLENGE--- gradually gain speed and then stop on the line along with a sound gradually getting higher. then come back in reverse with the sound getting lower
TERM 4!----NEW CHALLENGE---- Mouse trap challenge
goal---trap a robotic mouse in our homemade trap in any way shape or form.
we have the frame built very sturdy and we have a gate that will close when the ultra sonic sensor says that the mouse is 12 centimeters away
the program will run in parallel to power 2 sensors for one motor.
